Or: Questions I pretended someone was asking me.

What's your day job?
I have several: first, I am a mother to three wonderful children. I also spend time researching in the field of Neurolinguistics, writing songs with a friend of mine, and singing with a couple of local jazz bands. And I get to teach the children's sermon at my church every week. I have a B.A. and an M.A. in Linguistics, and I am a member of Romance Writers of America and its fabulous Fantasy, Futuristic, & Paranormal chapter.
Is Dannye Chase your real name?
Nope! I can't even spell my real name, so I didn't want to ask readers to do it.
Where do you get your book ideas?
I am blessed to have a creative side that benefits from altered consciousness. It's not so scary as all that! I mean dreams and those car rides that last six hours and you zone out and the next thing you know, a man in black is sitting next to you explaining all about how he's trying to find the woman he loves who's lost in the misty forest along the side of the road. (Hint: don't talk to him out loud. It scares the children.) As for the dreams, I often wake up in the morning with new plots! They are always romantic and always paranormal. Strangely, no werewolves yet. Not sure why.
What's your superpower?
I have synesthesia, which means that I get to see music in color, among other things. It's my own little piece of paranormal. Okay, so it's not exactly a superpower...oh, heck, sure it is.
What will you do when you get published?
I'm going to Disneyland! No, really, I'm serious. The kids have never been there.
Have you ever been published?
Yes, I had a young adult vampire novel put out by PublishAmerica under my real name.
What's your favorite part of writing a book?
Well, besides the romance scenes, I like to hide stuff in my books. For example, The Phantom Island is full of hidden references to the Odyssey and the Greek Pantheon. Look for superhero names in the Flight series. And I love creating the system of metaphors and finding new ways of showing backstory. Why just write your story on one level?
What do you like to read?
Romance (paranormal and not), vampire books, nonfiction, and poetry.
